At The Bunbury Glasshouse, we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This policy informs you how we look after your personal data when you visit our website and tells you about your privacy rights.
1. The Data We Collect
Because we are currently in our cultivation phase (2026–2040), we only collect minimal data:
- Identity Data: Name and title.
- Contact Data: Email address and (optionally) phone number.
- Technical Data: IP address, browser type, and location data (collected automatically via cookies for website analytics).
2. How We Use Your Data
We will only use your personal data for the following purposes:
- The Registry: To add you to our long-term waiting list for the 2040 specimen release.
- Updates: To send you occasional "Cultivation Reports" (bi-annual updates on our trees).
- Inquiries: To respond to specific questions about our Niwaki or (eventual) 5-hectare site and setup.
Lawful Basis: We process this data based on your Consent (when you sign up) or our Legitimate Interests (to respond to your direct messages).
3. Data Retention (The 14-Year Cycle)
Unlike standard retailers, our business model is long-term.
- We will hold your contact information for the duration of our cultivation period (until 2040) unless you ask us to delete it sooner.
- We perform a "Data Cleanse" every 3 years to ensure our registry remains accurate and desired.
4. Your Rights
Under UK tax and data law, you have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you.
- Rectify (correct) any mistakes in your data.
- Erasure (The "Right to be Forgotten")—you can leave the registry at any time.
- Withdraw Consent: Every email we send will have an "Unsubscribe" link.
